Why is your priority area valued?(trees, forests &ecosystems)
Some of the trees have old man's beard which is a good fire making product. The trees are up and down the mountains and some are higher than others. There are alpine trees which stay green most time around year. Some trees and plants are poisonous which could affect the life style. These poisonous things include Corn Lilies and Indian Hellebore. The forests are huge, vast forests. There isn't much human noise or effects in the high divide forests which makes it all the better. In the forests there are some creeks you can cross for a good water view. When walking through the forest eventually due to the mountains you're actually above lots of the forest. Now for the ecosystem! The high divide stretches from Montana all the way to Idaho. It is a unique ecosystem that has water, trees and slopes. This is a picture of what the ecosystem looks like. There are many threats to the ecosystem, such as new gas extraction techniques, mining which has been happening for 100 years, nuctin and busier highways. This construction is putting more pressure on the land and water, which has a negative effect on the ecosystem. Due to the busier highways, animals trying to make their way through their ecosystem can be hit by cars. There are opportunities to conserve and restore the wildlife habitat and preserve the moose, grizzly bears, trout, antelope, elk and wolverine. This is the most important linkage area, it links together 3 other protected ecosystems and animals move through the High divide Divide to make their way to other ecosystems for shelter and food.
