Task 1: Why is SNS (Stikine-Nass-Skeena) Valued?SNS is valued because it houses the headwaters for 3 rivers, most places do not even have headwaters. It also has a very interesting ecosystem which includes alpine tundra that was shattered by frost because the frost got in the cracks of the rock and it expanded, scree slopes this is fine prices of rock, fine soil and dwarf plants that lay very close to the ground. Some types of trees they have here are boreal white and black spruce. This area is a alpine tundra mixed with lots of forests. Source: gobc.ca
Also there are many resources located there that are valuable. There is coal, natural gas, silver, gold and other resources. And not only do bear, caribou, moose and many more live in the headwaters, salmon have spawning grounds in the river where they lay their eggs aka a part of Canada's next generation of salmon. Source: y2y.net Fun Fact: Salmon swim 400 Km from the Pacific Ocean to the rivers just to lay their eggs.
In our area their are lots of animals and with salmon that swim 400 km from the pacific to reach the upper river. Also there are three main headwaters in our area, also in our area there are lots of coal and valuable minerals that gas and oil industries want like shell. Our area is also a great place to go hiking and there is a great view with beautiful trees and plants. Also you can see different kinds of animals. Also there are unique plants like the western hemlock, the black cottonwood and the salmon berry.
