Task 2: Natural resources found in the Greater Mackenzie Mountains are animals such as wide ranging Caribou, Moose, Wolves, Wolverine, Grizzely Bears, Black Bears, Gyrfalcon etc. why these are natural resources is because they are edible for humans and some animals to eat. Other natural resources found our priority area our plants and minerals such as shrubs cotton grass, dwarf birch, Labrador tea etc. Why the plants our natural resources in our priority area is because herbivores eat the plants and they help create the food web and food chain.
Task 3: What makes our priority area and region unique is that we have one of the continent's largest constellations of wild mountain rivers in North Americawhy this is unique is because wild mountain river constellation are rare in so places in Canada but it is also one of the biggest wild mountain river constellation in North America. The Greater Mackenzie Mountains is one of the wildest places to live on earth which means there is no people with houses there but there are towns around the Greater Mackenzie Mountains most of the region is also unprotected.
Task 4: A dwarf birch tree is a deciduous tree in our region because it loses it leaves in season changes throughout the year. A Conicidous tree in our region is the jack pine why this is a Conicidous tree is because it does not lose its pine needles throughout the year the pine needles stay on the tree the whole year. We also have a Balsam poplar tree which is also a deciduous tree and the last one is a alpine fir tree which is a Conicidous tree. Four characteristics about the dwarf birch tree is that the bark on the tree is a really light brown or white another characteristic is that the dwarf birch is a bushy shrub with many branches that are covered with small round leaves the dwarf birch also has dark green leaves with a shiny surface and they have rounded teeth on the edges the last one is that the bark peels really easy. Four Chracteristics for the jack pine is that it has short needles that grow in pairs another characteristic is that the pine cones on the trees face inward and they also usually grow in pairs. The jack pine also the jack pine is the most northerly of Canadian pines. The bark on the tree is brown. The four Chracteristics for the balsam poplar is the bark is smooth and greenish brown on young trees, becoming thick as the tree ages. The tre is a wide ranging tree also the balsam poplar can not stand shade and the last one is the bark is eaten by beavers and porcupines. Four Chracteristics for the alpine fir is that the alpine fir is a high altitude tree and it has narrow branches the bark is a smooth grey color and covered with resin blisters.
